Gyantse Horse Race & Archery Festival will be held in May or June. Horse race and archery are very popular in Tibet, and Gyantse enjoys the reputation of the birthplace of both activities in Tibet. According to lunar calendar Gyantse’s Festival offers equestrian and shooting competition for a few days, followed by other activities.

Shoton Festival in August. Shoton Festival is the biggest festival of the Tibetan yogurt. In earlier times, religious people went to the mountain hermitages to do penance. It is the last day of atonement, as the benefits of yoghurt was served, followed by entertainment. Today there are well-established music festival, which usually lasts seven days.
